This may come as a surprise to most people, but Egypt and Syria were once the centers of Christianity. There were no Muslims in either country before 639 A.D.

Its founder was Saint Mark who went back to his home country in Africa to spread the “Good News.” The church he founded is now under siege in Egypt, but still stands strong in Ethiopia.

Watch TV or Read Books: or Both?

I brought up the question of whether we should watch TV or read books on a recent TV show. I encouraged my viewers to read books. Read more books and watch less TV. A book provides a rich perspective whereas TV, especially the news, only delivers a soundbite or a snapshot, never the whole story and oftentimes a very misleading narrative. 

Authors love to sign their books. I have not met one who doesn’t like to sign their book. Many of us are just plain happy that someone bought the book so it can be signed. It’s not about the money. Unless the author is published by a “big house” and is on the NY Times Bestseller List, they lose money. I have not received a single penny for the time I spent writing and marketing my book. Neither has any author I have ever spoken with. We do it to inspire people to read.

How many lives have now been made better, or whole, by taking down the statutes they didn’t like? How many people of color now have a better standard of living? How many snowflakes are now safer since the offensive statues have been destroyed? I’ve been waiting for a far-left article to detail this for me. So far, I haven’t seen one.

Florida, Irma and Tornadoes

I wrote how I love Texas in my last newsletter.

I wrote how I love Texas in my last newsletter. Little did I know that my beautiful state of Florida would be ravaged by a Texas sized hurricane. The “Space Coast” did not receive the full force of Irma, however we were subjected to numerous tornadoes throughout the storm which caused substantial damage to homes, landscaping, marinas, docks and boats of all types and sizes. Many were without power and water for considerable amounts of time, but fortunately flooding was not a major issue like it was in my beloved Texas.

We are witnessing the same acts of sacrifice and kindness as extraordinary people are performing extraordinary feats of bravery and dedication for their neighbors, known and unknown. Incivility and political correctness that has plagued Americans has been forgotten in Florida as well. I wrote about this in Chapter 18 of 20/20: A Clear Vision for America.People united in a common cause is my “American Vision.”  20/20: A Clear Vision for America .
